A Quote by a Good President

Die when I may, I want it said by those who knew me best that I always plucked a thistle and planted a flower where I thought a flower would grow.

Regal Return

I love this Pansy and I'm so glad the slugs didn't wipe out the ones I planted last year. Welcome back, you gorgeous thing!

Purple Belles

These delicate lovelies were planted before we arrived and they are growing like wildfire. They remind me of the hats you can see on drawings of fairies!

Fancy Freesias

Making a splash is a fragrant Freesia looking the best I've ever grown. They take a bow and I applaud.

A Tulip Surprise!

This tulip looked pretty impressive on the outside - see the previous tulip posting . But to my surprise this flower has a vibrancy that can't be beat! It sings colour!

Volunteers at the Ready!

Welcome the little delicate Jumping Jacks. More "Volunteers" who, without any encouragement, just appear! They are a family member of the Pansy whose flowers never grow larger than a 10 pence piece!

OH SNOW......

Hard to believe the day before it was a fairly bright and mild day in our garden as the photos previous to this film show. Thank goodness this magical snow didn't stay too long. I hastily put bags and plastic containers over the most vulnerable plants which were removed only hours later when the snow clouds moved on. Whew! Garden saved!

Little bit of Lavender

This plant seemed to have seen better days some months ago. As it is a plant that likes to spread itself around naturally and we have such a small garden, I thought it should stay in a pot, which I regretted when I saw it growing dry and pale. But as you see it's none the worse for wear as it's come back with a nod and a wink!

Snowy White Hyacinth

This little surprise is another welcome sight. Amazing to think that such perfection can find it's way out of soil so completely unspoilt.

No Prim Primrose

The Primroses I planted last year have now come back with an even greater aplomb than I expected!
Not as colourful as I recall the first blooms were but still just as welcome and much more rounded plants thanks to my snail and slug catchers which I dread to use - but a gardener's gotta do what a gardener's gotta do!

A Splash of Colour

Tulips appeared the other day to my surprise and upon close inspection I found no ordinary flora but a daring flower that would even impress the likes of Georgia O'Keefe!

Hiya Hyacinth, Hyacinthus

Self-Starter

Our little garden is literally a do-it-yourself affair. Actually it's a do-it-itself on the whole. Since we moved in a little over a year ago we haven't had much time to plant but that hasn't stopped the garden from doing it's best on it's own which is pretty impressive considering.

Primrose Always Knows

A hardy little character. Spreads itself around and comes back as cheery as ever year after year!

Spring has Sprung!

It is March at what do we know when the flowers say it all.
